Job summary

Fireworks AI is seeking a finance-focused professional to own the financial analysis behind our GPU infrastructure and R&D investments. You’ll model capacity, utilization, and costs, and partner with Engineering, Product, Security, IT, and Finance to plan headcount, tooling, and the operating budget.

With 4–7 years in investment banking or private equity and strong financial modeling, you’ll help Finance scale the business.

Qualifications

• 4-7 years of experience starting in investment banking, private equity, or equivalent for strong modeling and analytical rigor.
• Subsequent corporate/ startup finance exposure in tech is preferred.
• Expert financial modeling skills; ability to stress-test assumptions and translate outputs into recommendations.
• Genuine interest in operations and understanding of how technology and business run.

Responsibilities

• Own the compute model: build and maintain the GPU fleet financial model, capacity commitments, utilization, and costs.
• Support R&D finance: plan headcount, tooling and vendor spend, operating budget.
• Support capacity planning: maintain truth about capacity held vs. committed vs. used.
• Analyze capacity commitments: evaluate structures, surface optimization opportunities, track performance.
• Negotiate and manage vendors: influence terms for software, tooling, infrastructure.
• Get operational: observe utilization and roadmaps, feed back into the financial model.
• Forecast and explain: monthly variance analysis for compute, cloud, and R&D spend.
• Split research from production: model and forecast separately; build ROI framework.
• Build the function: reporting, dashboards, processes for leadership visibility.
• Support the company narrative: contribute inputs for board materials and fundraising.
