Job summary

Until is seeking its first dedicated strategic finance hire to own the company’s financial picture end to end. You’ll sit close to the CEO and leadership, build long-range forecasts, and turn ambitious scientific plans into clear operating decisions.

You’ll manage the model, fundraising support, cap table, and go-to-market considerations, while shaping the capital strategy and partnerships in a high-growth, mission‑driven setting.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in investment banking, private equity, growth equity, corporate development, or similar.
• Strong financial modeling and scenario planning ability.
• Ability to explain complex analyses to scientists and investors.
• Willingness to own multiple finance workstreams and prioritize high-impact tasks.

About Until

Until is a moonshot company building a “pause button” for biology.

Our near-term focus is organ-scale reversible cryopreservation: preserving donated organs at subzero temperatures without ice formation, then rewarming them uniformly for transplant. By solving this grand challenge, we’re laying the foundation for whole-body reversible cryopreservation, giving patients a bridge to future cures.

We’re assembling an interdisciplinary team to develop perfusion systems, cryoprotectant formulations, and vitrification and rewarming hardware.

We envision a future where no transplantable organ is lost to logistics, and no terminal diagnosis is final because patients can safely wait for future medicine to arrive.

About the Role

We’re hiring Until’s first dedicated strategic finance hire.

Until is a Series A company of roughly 50 people, primarily scientists and engineers, and has raised approximately $100M to date. We’re entering a period of meaningful growth and complexity: expanding our facilities, advancing new programs, growing the team, and preparing for our next fundraising chapter.

This is an opportunity for someone who has built strong analytical instincts in a demanding finance environment and wants to become a true company operator. Rather than owning one narrow workstream, you’ll sit close to the CEO and leadership team, own the company’s financial picture end to end, and help turn ambitious scientific plans into clear operating decisions.

You’ll own the model and forecast, answering the questions that matter most: where should we invest, what does it take to get there, and how long does our capital last? The work will range from building long-range scenarios and supporting fundraising to shaping our go-to-market strategy, managing the cap table, and running the 409A process.

It is a high-ownership role in a fast-moving company, with the chance to apply rigorous finance training to work that is tangible, varied, and mission-driven.

What You’ll Do

• Build and own Until’s long-range financial model, operating forecast, and scenario planning across facility buildout, new programs, hiring, and capital needs. Create a model where every number can be traced back to a clear assumption.

• Partner with the Director of Strategy to evaluate go-to-market strategy for a first-of-its-kind product.

• Work closely with the CEO on future fundraising, including financial models, investor materials, diligence support, and data-room management.

• Help shape our capital strategy across venture financing, non-dilutive grants and government awards, and strategic partnerships.

• Own core finance operations as the company grows, including budgeting, vendor spend, cap table administration, 409A coordination, and partnership with our external accounting team.

• Translate complex analyses into clear recommendations for scientists, founders, and investors.

About You

• You have 4+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, growth equity, corporate development, strategic finance, or another investing- or transaction-intensive role.

• You are an exceptional modeler. You can build a model from scratch, develop well-supported assumptions, and distinguish between precision and false precision.

• You can walk us through a model you built in depth: what question it answered, why you structured it that way, what assumptions mattered most, and what you learned when the first version was wrong.

• You can produce a thoughtful back-of-the-envelope estimate quickly and explain the reasoning clearly to a scientist, founder, or investor.

• You want broader ownership than a traditional finance seat offers. You are equally comfortable fixing a budget line, evaluating a major capital decision, and building a board-ready analysis.

• You are comfortable being a one-person function initially and have the judgment to prioritize the work that matters most.

• You are excited by the science and curious enough to understand how it drives the business.

• You want to bring your finance toolkit to an ambitious, mission-driven company doing meaningful work in the world.
