Job summary

Communities In Schools of North Carolina (CISNC) seeks a Director of Finance to lead monthly close, ensure GAAP compliance, and support audits. You will guide budgeting, grants management, and financial planning for CISNC and affiliates, with oversight of finance staff and cross-functional collaboration.

The role requires 7+ years in accounting/finance, nonprofit experience, and strong analytical skills. CPA or MBA is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar field of study or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting, audit, or corporate finance experience.
• 3-5+ years nonprofit / fund accounting experience preferred.
• 3+ years federal and state grant management preferred.
• CPA, CGMA or MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage select areas of the monthly close by reviewing and posting journal vouchers and reviewing/approving account reconciliations.
• Ensure financial reports are accurate and timely, perform variance analysis, and present findings to leaders.
• Prepare funding utilization reports and projections, and communicate status with VP Finance.
• Review and post subledger transactions including AR, cash deposits, and AP.
• Support annual budget development with tools, templates, and training.
