Job summary

Communities In Schools of North Carolina is seeking a Director of Finance to lead monthly close, enhance internal controls, support audits, and drive financial planning for CISNC and its affiliates. You will manage grant accounting, budgeting processes, and fiscal policy updates in a collaborative nonprofit setting.

The role requires a CPA/CGMA or MBA preferred, 7+ years in accounting/finance, and 3+ years in nonprofit grant management, based in the Durham office with standard Core Business

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years progressive experience in accounting, audit, and/or corporate finance.
• 3-5+ years nonprofit fund accounting experience preferred.
• 3+ years of federal and state grant management preferred.
• CPA, CGMA or MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead select areas of monthly close, review journal vouchers and reconciliations.
• Prepare reports showing funding utilization and variances.
• Support annual budget development and budgeting uploads.
• Assist in external audits and financial statements.
• Maintain fiscal policies and quarterly internal reviews for compliance.
• Prepare annual Form 990s for CISNC and affiliates.
• Oversee projects within Finance to achieve department goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
