Job summary

Oliver James Group is seeking a Director of Finance in Jacksonville, FL, a senior role that blends accounting, FP&A and strategic finance. You will work closely with the CFO to shape the finance function during a growth phase, aligning GAAP close with commercial outcomes and automation initiatives.

The position emphasizes cross-functional partnership with Actuarial, analytics, and leadership to deliver segment-level P&Ls, long-range planning and data-driven storytelling.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in insurance accounting, GAAP close and financial reporting.
• Experience in FP&A and strategic finance with actuarial exposure.
• Understanding reserve development advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead GAAP close and accounting processes.
• Partner with Actuarial around reserve development.
• Develop and analyse segment-level P&Ls.
• Own forecasting, simulation modelling and 3-year strategic planning.
• Partner with Department Heads and senior leadership across the business.
• Turn financial data into meaningful commercial insight and storytelling.
• Help drive automation and move the finance function beyond traditional Excel reporting.
• Work with tools such as SQL, Power BI and data analytics.
• Cross-train across Accounting and FP&A, with the role expected to develop further over time.
• Opportunity to build and eventually manage additional finance resource.
