Job summary

Abilene ISD seeks an Executive Director of Finance to lead the District's financial operations within the Business and Finance division. The role provides executive leadership, directs budgeting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and internal controls in support of the CFO.

The position collaborates with district leaders to implement strategic financial planning, improve financial systems, and ensure compliance with laws, policies, and standards across the district.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or related field, or 10+ years of fiscal operations management experience in education.
• Master's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field; CPA preferred; TASBO certified preferred.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, accounting systems, payroll processing, and GAAP.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze data and make viable recommendations.
• Knowledge of TEA Financial Accountability Resource Guide and public school law.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the district's financial operations including budgeting, accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Assist in planning and monitoring the annual operating budget and long-range financial plans.
• Ensure financial operations comply with laws, board policies, and internal controls.
• Coordinate with campus/department leaders to provide financial guidance and budgeting support.
• Support procurement with compliance to laws and ethical standards.
• Assist CFO in financial administration and strategic planning.
• Develop and maintain sound accounting systems and internal controls.
• Prepare timetables for financial reporting, reports, and statements.
• Maintain cash flow monitoring, investments, and treasury operations.
