Job summary

Triumph seeks a Director of Strategic Finance to build budgeting, forecasting and planning from the ground up in San Francisco. You will partner with the CFO and leadership to translate growth into a plan, providing teams with confidence in the numbers behind decisions.

You’ll design Triumph’s first operating plan, own the forecast and three-statement model, and shape finance processes. This hands-on leadership role offers equity and a path to scale the finance team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in FP&A, strategic finance, investment banking, or similar, including 2+ years leading strategic planning processes.
• Experience at a high-growth company, ideally through startup to scale.
• Track record of building finance processes from scratch.
• Expert financial modeling: three-statement models, forecasting and scenario planning.
• Strong accounting fundamentals (GAAP, P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
• Strong skills in software and data — learn new systems quickly; comfortable in SQL or BI tools; automate repetitive work.
• Hands-on experience using AI in budgeting and forecasting — build and maintain models and automate variance analysis and reporting.
• Strong presentation skills — lead monthly business reviews and present to execs and board.
• Sound judgment and the ability to influence leaders who don’t report to you.

Responsibilities

• Build the planning process: design Triumph’s first annual operating plan and budget; set planning calendar and ownership.
• Own the forecast: rolling forecast for 12–24 months; maintain three-statement model; cash forecast.
• Own unit economics: track metrics like LTV/CAC, cohort retention, payer conversion, ARPU, take rate; partner with data team.
• Plan headcount: tie hiring plans to budget and actuals.
• Turn numbers into decisions: monthly budget‑vs‑actual reporting with variance explanations; analyze margins and spend.
• Partner with leadership: work with CFO/CEO and leaders across product, growth, operations and engineering; prepare board updates.
• Build finance infrastructure: select and implement planning tools; connect to data; replace spreadsheets.
• Build the team: hire an analyst first and grow the function.
