Job summary

Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska is seeking a Controller I to act as a strategic partner to the CFO, leading finance, budgeting, administration and IT functions. The role involves hands-on management, building internal controls, and coordinating with senior leadership to enhance program quality and organizational efficiency.

The successful candidate will oversee budgeting, grants, and financial planning, while guiding staff and ensuring compliance with GAAP and tribal regulations.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Accounting or Business Administration. Master’s degree preferred.
• CPA/CMA/CGFM or similar certification preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of senior level accounting and finance experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain internal controls across Tribe divisions.
• Coordinate financial planning, budgeting, and investments.
• Prepare and manage department budgets and annual budgeting process.
• Oversee grant compliance and GAAP reporting.
• Assist in audits and provide documentation to auditors.
• Lead and develop accounting staff and monitor performance.
