Job summary

Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council Inc. is seeking an accounting leader to establish and oversee the department’s policies, controls, and reporting systems in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin.

You will ensure legal and regulatory compliance, manage budgeting, grants, and audits, and supervise the accounting staff to support tribal programs and operations. The role emphasizes nonprofit expertise, bondability, and collaboration with executive leadership to maintain financial integrity and regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business and 2–5 years of experience in a computerized accounting office.
• CPA certification is desirable.
• Prior experience with nonprofit or tribal organizations preferred.
• Must be bondable and able to work with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting department operations, internal controls, and financial reporting systems.
• Manage budget development and ensure expenditures align with approved programs and laws.
• Ensure grant compliance and reporting; maintain annual financial procedures and manuals.
• Prepare financial reports for the Board and CEO; oversee annual audits and tax filings.
• Develop Indirect Cost Proposal and supervise staff in accounting department.
