Job summary

Socket.dev seeks a Controller I in Winnebago, NE to partner with the CFO, lead finance and IT support, and manage budgeting and internal controls. You will supervise staff and drive strategic financial decisions to strengthen operations for the Winnebago Tribe.

The role requires hands-on leadership in budgeting, GAAP compliance, and coordination with auditors, with opportunities to shape the organization's financial strategy and reporting processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration; Master’s preferred.
• Sage Intacct experience strongly preferred.
• CPA, CMA, CGFM or similar certification preferred.
• 3–5 years of senior-level accounting and finance experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting and grant requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain internal controls and monitor across Tribe divisions.
• Coordinate financial planning, budgeting, and investments per Council guidelines.
• Prepare and manage departmental budgets and oversee annual budgeting.
• Oversee grant compliance and GAAP reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with CFO to maintain short- and long-term financial plans and forecasts.
• Supervise accounting staff and provide training and development.
