Job summary

Clayton County Water Authority seeks a Controller to provide strategic leadership of Accounting, Budget, Payroll and Financial Reporting functions. The role ensures compliance with GAAP and GASB, oversees ACFR preparation, annual audits, and internal controls while partnering with senior leadership to drive financial accountability.

The Controller will lead a team, manage month-end close, and support the CFO in budgeting and financial planning to sustain operational performance across CCWA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• CPA license in active good standing preferred.
• Eight (8) years of progressively responsible accounting/financial management experience.
• Experience with ACFR and GASB standards in government entities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, budgeting and financial reporting.
• Oversee ACFR preparation and coordinating annual audits.
• Ensure GAAP and GASB compliance and robust internal controls.
• Provide financial leadership to CFO and executive team for strategic planning.
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts and financial projections.
