Job summary

Skidmore is seeking a seasoned Controller for our Moody, Alabama office. You will lead the accounting department, ensure timely financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and partner with senior leadership to drive profitability and operational efficiency.

This full-time role requires 5–10 years of leadership in accounting, a bachelor’s in accounting/finance (CPA/MBA preferred), and proven ability to manage AR/AP, budgeting, audits, and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5–10 years of progressive accounting leadership experience.
• Experience in food distribution or related industries preferred.
• CPA or MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees accounts payable to ensure timely payments to suppliers and optimize cash use.
• Oversees accounts receivable for timely collections and credit decisions.
• Directs monthly close and preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Leads budgeting process and variance analysis with actionable insights.
• Maintains internal controls and risk management across the organization.
• Manages staff accountants and mentors direct reports.
