Job summary

Clinton Community College seeks a strategic Director of Budgeting and Finance to act as Controller and report to the VP for Administration. This role leads budgeting, reporting, grant compliance, cash management, audits, and Purchasing operations with a team of 4.

Evening and weekend work may be required. The position requires a bachelor’s in accounting or related field, five years of fiscal management, supervisory experience, and knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and public sector finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field; Master’s and CPA preferred.
• Minimum five years of fiscal management experience; leadership in a college/government/business setting.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Experience with double-entry books, general ledger, and government books; budget and financial reports.
• Higher education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets; monitor adherence to budget.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior leadership and Board.
• Prepare GAAP/GASB-compliant financial reports and SUNY/IPEDS submissions.
• Maintain subsidiary and general ledgers; review and post journal entries.
• Conduct cost studies and manage college funds investments.
• Oversee purchasing to ensure compliant procurement practices.
• Lead and mentor finance staff; liaison with auditors and regulators.
