Job summary

Nuveen, a global investment manager and part of TIAA, seeks a VP, Director External Reporting & Technical Accounting to lead a team responsible for quarterly and annual audited financial statements under US GAAP and IFRS, with focus on technical accounting guidance for complex transactions.

This role drives accuracy, timeliness, and compliance, partners with auditors and legal, and oversees Oracle FCCS migration and system controls, while mentoring staff toward technical excellence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of controls, audit, accounting, or finance experience.
• CPA or equivalent professional designation preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in external financial reporting and technical accounting for complex transactions including mergers and acquisitions.

Responsibilities

• Leads the team responsible for preparation and review of Nuveen's quarterly and annual audited financial statements, ensuring GAAP/IFRS conformance and timeliness.
• Coordinates with external auditors, legal, tax, and stakeholders to facilitate audit and reporting cycles.
• Provides authoritative technical accounting guidance on complex transactions including mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, and new product launches.
• Leads technical accounting assessments, researches literature, documents conclusions, and communicates findings to finance leadership.
• Monitors and evaluates impact of emerging accounting standards and regulatory developments, advising senior leadership and driving implementation.
• Partners with FP&A to support investor relations reporting and align audited results with management narratives for investors.
• Oversees Oracle FCCS change management and system enhancements to safeguard data integrity.
