Job summary

Houston VA Research and Education Foundation (HVAREF) seeks an Executive Director to provide strategic leadership, oversee operations, and ensure long-term sustainability in alignment with MEDVAMC research goals.

The role partners with the HVAREF Board of Directors and MEDVAMC leadership, directing budgeting, grants, contracts, human resources, and risk management to advance HVAREF’s mission and fiduciary responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in business, healthcare administration, public administration, research administration, finance, or related field.
• Proven leadership experience in nonprofit, research, healthcare, or VA-affiliated settings.
• Strong financial literacy with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and leadership to HVAREF and ensure alignment with mission and sustainability.
• Oversee budgeting, financial management, contracts, and compliance with applicable requirements.
• Lead governance interactions with the Board and external stakeholders to advance goals.
