Job summary

Vanguard is seeking a Senior Executive Communications Strategist to serve as the lead advisor to a Vanguard Managing Director, shaping an external communications strategy that aligns with enterprise priorities and business objectives. The role focuses on transforming complex topics into compelling narratives for clients and the market.

In this senior role, you will own the MD's external visibility across earned media, speaking engagements, and social channels, while advising on reputation

Qualifications

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in executive communications or related field.
• Experience advising C-suite or senior leaders in highly visible environments.
• Proven track record developing executive thought leadership platforms and external communications strategies.
• Demonstrated media relations expertise, including developing proactive media strategies for high-profile engagements.
• Strong understanding of the financial services media landscape.
• Exceptional writing, storytelling, messaging, and presentation development skills.
• Experience developing communications measurement frameworks and demonstrating impact.
• Ability to influence senior leaders, navigate ambiguity, and operate in fast-paced settings.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary communications strategist and trusted advisor to a Vanguard Managing Director.
• Develop and execute a comprehensive external executive communications strategy aligned to priorities and business objectives.
• Shape and maintain a differentiated thought leadership platform for the executive.
• Provide strategic counsel on reputation opportunities and risks.
• Own the Managing Director's external visibility strategy across earned media, speaking engagements, forums, and social channels.
• Advise and prepare executives for media interviews, editorial boards, podcasts, and high-profile engagements.
• Cultivate relationships with journalists, conference organizers, industry influencers, and external stakeholders.
• Develop speeches, keynote presentations, opinion pieces, talking points, and social content for external audiences.
• Establish and lead a measurement framework to assess effectiveness of programs.
