Job summary

Allworth Financial is seeking an experienced equity trading and research professional to join our in-house team in Indianapolis. The role combines discretionary trading decisions with ongoing research coverage across assigned stocks to inform model portfolios.

You will work closely with portfolio managers, apply tax-aware trading concepts, and contribute to building and maintaining client portfolios within a collaborative, cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• Three to seven years of experience in equity trading, portfolio implementation, or investment operations with direct trading responsibility.
• Judgment in trade decision-making beyond order entry or rules-based execution.
• Understanding of tax-aware trading considerations, including gain/loss realization, cost basis, and wash sales.
• Ability to work independently while operating within team governance.
• Familiarity with custodial platforms and RIA portfolio management/rebalancing systems is a plus.
• Experience with fundamental or sector-based equity research.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a small, cross-trained team.
• Advanced Excel skills and attention to detail.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, mathematics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Series 65 or equivalent licensing preferred, or ability to obtain it.

Responsibilities

• Trading and Portfolio Implementation: Execute account-level rebalancing to target models, considering tax-aware gain/loss realization and position trimming.
• Determine best investment or cash deployment based on model, sector allocation and security selection.
• Review and approve tactical rebalances in PM/rebalancing platforms; supplement with manual analysis where needed.
• Maintain accurate trading notes, restrictions, and goals.
• Onboard new accounts into flexible models with tax budgets, restrictions, exclusions, and cash targets.
