Job summary

Citizens seeks a Principal Architect, Enterprise Security to drive architecture across cloud, infrastructure, applications, data and security platforms within Commercial Banking & Payments. Partner with senior architects and business stakeholders to enable innovation while managing risk and embedding security across the technology ecosystem.

Remote work is not available; the role requires a hybrid schedule with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote at hub locations in Phoenix, Johnston, Westwood, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in software engineering, CS, or related discipline.
• 15+ years in enterprise architecture with leadership at the enterprise or divisional level.
• Expertise in TOGAF, SABSA, NIST and related frameworks.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience embedding security into digital transformation and architecting secure by design.
• Ability to influence across a matrixed org without direct authority.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve enterprise architecture strategies aligned to business objectives and cybersecurity goals.
• Partner with line of business architects for cohesive integration across domains.
• Develop architecture standards, reference architectures, design patterns, and reusable frameworks.
• Champion secure by design across the software development lifecycle.
• Translate regulatory requirements and risk into actionable architectural guidance.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Engineering, DevOps, SRE, and Security leaders to embed controls.
• Lead architecture discussions for cloud transformation and data initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies including cloud-native platforms, identity frameworks, API security, and containerization.
• Align enterprise architecture with cybersecurity and business strategy.
• Influence decisions across a matrixed organization through collaboration and leadership.
• Communicate architectural concepts to technical and executive audiences.
