Job summary

Citizens Bank is seeking a strategic Principal Architect for Enterprise Security to shape secure, scalable architecture across cloud, data, applications and security platforms within Commercial Banking & Payments.

You will partner with senior architects and business stakeholders to drive secure-by-design principles, guide technology decisions, and embed security throughout the technology ecosystem while balancing risk and innovation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in software engineering, CS, or related field.
15+ years in enterprise architecture roles with leadership experience.
Deep experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Experience with DevOps practices, infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines.
Strong understanding of modern application architectures (microservices, APIs, distributed systems, containers).
Broad cybersecurity architecture experience including IAM, encryption, secure networks, threat modeling, and controls.
Ability to bridge EA, security, application architecture, and business strategy.
Experience embedding security into digital transformation and modernization initiatives.
Ability to influence stakeholders in a matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

Define and evolve enterprise architecture strategies aligned to business objectives and cybersecurity goals.
Partner with line of business architects to ensure cohesive integration of business, application, data, technology, and security domains.
Develop architecture standards, reference architectures, design patterns, and reusable frameworks for consistency and scalability.
Champion secure-by-design principles throughout the software development lifecycle.
Serve as a senior advisor translating regulatory requirements, security standards, and risk into actionable guidance.
Collaborate with Infrastructure, Engineering, DevOps, SRE, and Security leaders to embed controls into platforms and CI/CD pipelines.
Lead architecture discussions supporting cloud transformation, modernization, and data initiatives.
Evaluate and guide adoption of emerging technologies including cloud-native platforms, identity frameworks, API security, and containerization.
Drive alignment between enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and business strategy.
Influence technology decisions across a matrixed organization through expertise and leadership.
Communicate architectural concepts and risks to technical and executive audiences.
