Job summary

Citizens is seeking a strategic Principal Architect, Enterprise Security to steer architecture across cloud, data, and security platforms for the Commercial Banking & Payments domains. This role partners with senior architects and business leaders to enable innovation while managing risk and aligning with business objectives.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in enterprise architecture, strong TOGAF/SABSA/NIST experience, and deep cloud and security expertise.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in software, CS, CE or related field.
15+ years in enterprise architecture with leadership at enterprise or divisional level.
Proficient with TOGAF, SABSA, NIST and related frameworks.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Experience with DevOps, infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software approaches.
Strong knowledge of modern application architectures (microservices, APIs, distributed systems, containers).
Broad cybersecurity architecture experience: IAM, encryption, secure network design, threat modeling, controls.
Ability to bridge enterprise, security, application architectures with business strategy.
Experience embedding security into digital transformation and modernization efforts.
Experience shifting security left and aligning security with business objectives.

Responsibilities

Define and evolve enterprise architecture strategies aligned to business objectives and cybersecurity goals.
Partner with line of business architects to ensure cohesive integration across domains.
Develop architecture standards, reference architectures, and reusable frameworks for consistency and scalability.
Champion secure by design principles throughout the software development lifecycle.
Translate regulatory requirements and risk considerations into actionable architectural guidance.
Collaborate with Infra, Engineering, DevOps, SRE, and Security leaders to embed controls into platforms and pipelines.
Lead architecture discussions supporting cloud transformation, modernization, and data initiatives.
Evaluate and guide adoption of emerging technologies (cloud platforms, identity frameworks, API security, containerization).
Drive alignment between enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and business strategy.
Influence technology decisions across a matrixed organization; communicate with technical and executive audiences.
