Job summary

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking an Employee Relations Consultant to serve as a strategic partner within the Human Resources department. The role focuses on managing complex employee relations matters, conducting impartial investigations, advising on performance management, and interpreting employment laws and university policies.

The consultant collaborates with academic and administrative leaders to resolve conflicts and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field.
• Experience: Three (3) years of experience in employee relations, HR consulting, investigations, mediation, or related HR role.
• Knowledge of employment laws, regulatory requirements and best practices.
• Strong interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage time sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Employee relations management, including guidance to supervisors, faculty and staff on performance issues and conflict resolution.
• Conduct workplace investigations and prepare investigative reports with confidentiality.
• Maintain accurate confidential case files and track deadlines.
• Collaborate with HR leadership and academic leaders to address organizational challenges and workforce planning.
