Job summary

M&T Bank is seeking an Employee Relations expert to act as a subject matter expert on ER matters, delivering high-quality solutions and counseling managers and employees across assigned lines of business and locations.

You will administer performance expectations, guide corrective action, and oversee terminations in line with bank policies, while addressing legal implications and participating in regulatory matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or communications with 5+ years ER experience.
• Experience consulting on ER issues and conducting investigations.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Ability to travel, including overnight travel.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, influencing, writing, and mediation skills.
• Critical thinking and agility in a dynamic environment.
• Self-motivated, well organized, and lifelong learner.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert on employee relations with significant impact.
• Participate in senior HR projects and adjudicate high level ER issues.
• Deliver high quality decisions and counsel to managers; analyze ER matters and recommend actions.
• Administer Performance Expectations and Corrective Action; oversee terminations.
• Counsel on corrective action and legal implications; participate in regulatory matters.
• Understand and interpret the employee handbook; report policy issues.
• Maintain awareness of wage/salary, benefits, and equal opportunity developments.
• Provide trainings on ER topics and partner with HR Centers of Excellence.
