Job summary

Salient Motion in Torrance, moving to Hawthorne, CA, seeks a Category Manager, Electronics. You will own the electronics supply base for PCBAs, connectors, and power electronics, influencing cost, availability and supplier performance. This is a high‑visibility role requiring collaboration with engineering, PM, and QA.

The role emphasizes strategic sourcing, supplier selection, and obsolescence management for regulated programs. US person status is required due to ITAR/EAR constraints.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in strategic sourcing or category management for electronic components.
• Experience sourcing semiconductors, PCBAs, connectors and power electronics.
• Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and counterfeit parts avoidance.

Responsibilities

• Own category strategy and supplier selection across PCBAs, connectors, power supplies, and sub‑assemblies.
• Lead sourcing for new programs from RFQ to award, negotiating cost and lead times.
• Manage allocation risk and multi‑source strategies to protect production.
• Drive obsolescence programs for electronic components across platforms.
• Partner with design to influence component selection for cost and availability.
• Lead supplier corrective actions for quality escapes tied to electronics.
• Negotiate long‑term agreements, pricing tiers, and consignment terms.
• Monitor tariff, shortage and market trends affecting cost and availability.
• Ensure supplier compliance with ITAR/EAR and AS5553 counterfeit prevention.
