Job summary

Salient Motion is seeking a Category Manager, Electronics in Torrance, CA to own the electronics supply base for actuators, power supplies, and related sub-assemblies. You will set commodity strategy for PCBAs, connectors, and motor drives, coordinating with engineering and program teams to ensure cost-effective, compliant sourcing.

This role requires a strong background in strategic sourcing for regulated environments and experience with AS9100/AS5553.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in strategic sourcing, category management, or regulated manufacturing.
• Experience sourcing semiconductors, PCBAs, connectors, and power electronics.
• Knowledge of DMSMS/obsolescence management practices.
• Experience negotiating supply agreements with distributors and OEM electronics manufacturers.
• Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and counterfeit electronic parts avoidance (AS5553/AS6081).
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Own category strategy and supplier selection for PCBAs, connectors, power supplies, and sub-assemblies.
• Lead sourcing for new programs from RFQ through award, protecting margin and schedule.
• Manage component allocation risk and build multi-source strategies for continuity.
• Drive obsolescence programs for electronic components across platforms.
• Partner with design engineering to influence component selection for cost and availability.
• Lead supplier corrective actions for quality escapes related to electronics.
• Negotiate long-term agreements, pricing tiers, and consigned inventory with distributors.
• Monitor commodity market trends and their cost/availability impact.
• Ensure supplier compliance with ITAR/EAR and counterfeit-parts avoidance requirements.
