Job summary

ECG, based in Atlanta, GA, seeks a Principal Analyst in Analytical Services to provide expert consulting on electric utility COS, rate design, and related studies for member cities. You will deliver data-driven analyses, develop long-term rate strategies, and present findings to city leaders and commissions.

The role requires a strong finance and accounting background, 10–15 years of experience, and advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and data interpretation.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, CIS, mathematics, business or related field with 10–15 years of related work experience.
• Ideal candidate should have 5–10 years of prior utility work experience, including finance, accounting, billing and operations.
• Practical knowledge in finance and accounting; cost-allocation understanding is a plus.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; strong communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepares Cost of Service (COS) and Retail Rate studies for member cities, including data collection, analysis, and reports.
• Develops long-term rate strategies with 10-year projections and multi-year rate design.
• Presents COS Retail Rate studies to city leadership, councils and commissions; participates in public meetings.
• Assists in development of specialized rate strategies and design.
• Designs and tracks Power Cost Adjustments; reviews member city financials and objectives.
• Maintains industry best practices for electric rate design and updates models for efficiency.
• Reviews and analyzes billing data; communicates issues and assists staff in corrections.
