Job summary

The Cumberland Economic Development Corporation in Cumberland, Maryland is seeking an motivated and collaborative Economic Development Specialist to support CEDC’s efforts to retain and expand existing businesses, attract new investment, advance redevelopment initiatives, and strengthen Cumberland’s overall economic competitiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in economic development, business administration, public administration, planning, finance, economics, political science, communications, or related field.
• At least two years of relevant professional experience; an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and analytical skills; experience with grant administration and incentives valued.

Responsibilities

• Supporting business retention, expansion, and recruitment efforts
• Assisting businesses and developers with permitting, financing, incentives, utilities, and other development-related processes
• Managing assigned economic development, redevelopment, infrastructure, and business-support projects
• Researching funding opportunities and assisting with grant applications, administration, reporting, and compliance
• Maintaining commercial property, development-site, business, and prospect information
• Analyzing demographic, workforce, real estate, and market data
• Preparing reports, presentations, marketing materials, and prospect proposals
• Building productive relationships with public, private, and nonprofit partners
