Job summary

The Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, Missouri, is seeking a Business Development Specialist to cultivate a network of businesses and stakeholders for support, incentives, and financing opportunities. The role focuses on job creation, business retention, and recruitment across Kansas City, MO.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree and has 3+ years in economic development or related fields, with strong communication, CRM skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, business, public administration, urban planning, or economics is a plus.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience related to economic development, local or state government, executive relationship management, or real estate is preferred.
• Track record of cultivating relationships with business, civic, and governmental leaders is preferred.
• Proficiency in CRM software, strong analytical skills, and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of EDCKC’s job creation and business support strategy.
• Partner with local industry associations to improve Kansas City’s economic competitiveness.
• Promote and coordinate the use of local and state business incentives to aid in job creation, business retention & expansion, and recruitment in Kansas City, Missouri.
• Project management in coordination with EDCKC staff and other strategic partners in retention, growth, and recruitment activities.
• Maintain a current, in-depth understanding of local and state incentives; maintain CRM records for all meetings and projects.
