Job summary

Ucitymo seeks an Economic Development Manager to lead and administer city programs funded by the EDRSTF. The role focuses on promoting the city to attract and retain businesses, coordinating with partners and boards, and managing long-term development strategies.

A strong outside‑the‑office presence is required and evenings/weekends may be needed. The position reports to the Deputy City Manager - Development and involves serving on multiple boards and collaborating with officials, landowners,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning or related field; Master's Degree preferred
• Five years related experience and/or training in economic development, downtown development, or industrial and commercial real estate development preferred
• Supervising experience

Responsibilities

• Creates and administers economic development programs and serves as primary contact regarding economic development programs
• Attracts and retains businesses to the city
• Implements the city's Economic Development Strategy, including the Business Retention and Expansion Program
• Familiarize public officials, retailers, community groups, the general public with the effort
• Develops and maintains relationships with landowners, developers, site consultants, realtors, entrepreneurs and related organizations
• Coordinates projects from promotional activities to market information
• Projects may include property inventory, external marketing, website maintenance, business recruitment and branding
• Acts as an information source for operating a business in the city and supports the Economic Development boards
• Engage with International District Businesses to understand needs
• Updates community demographic information on the city's website
• Prepare support for Loop Special Business District and Economic Development Retail Sales Tax Board
• Lead short and long range plans and policies for economic development
• Serve as staff liaison to relevant boards; attend occasional evening/weekend meetings
