Job summary

Kingfisher Recruiting is seeking a Strategic Purchaser to manage our ecommerce and dropship purchasing program in a fast-moving market. You will spot opportunities, build supplier networks, and optimize buying to grow margins.

You’ll own end-to-end purchases, balance inventory risk, and collaborate with sales and other teams to move inventory efficiently. Strong market sense and decision-making are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong market instincts and ability to identify and negotiate deals.
• Act quickly, make independent decisions, and own results.
• Strong supplier relationships and understanding of margins and cash flow.
• Organized, analytical, and able to communicate purchasing decisions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Stay on top of market pricing, product trends, promotions, and supply and demand.
• Decide when to buy, wait, or pass on a deal, and determine stock quantities.
• Use promotions and market opportunities to improve margins while managing risk.
• Build and maintain a broad network of direct distributors, wholesalers, traders, and suppliers.
• Negotiate competitive pricing and terms with suppliers.
• Take ownership of the financial outcome of each purchase.
• Monitor inventory, sales trends, and market prices; adjust pricing as needed.
• Identify new brands, products, and trends; test opportunities in controlled quantities.
• Coordinate with sales and purchasing teams before buying and when inventory needs to be sold.
• Communicate key purchases, market changes, and risks; explain expected outcomes and backups.
• Maintain clear records of suppliers, pricing, inventory, tests, and results.
