Job summary

The Mount Vernon Downtown Association seeks an Executive Director to lead a dynamic community nonprofit in Mount Vernon, WA. The role oversees downtown revitalization, partnerships, and organizational performance while reporting to the Board through the President.

You will drive strategic priorities, manage staff and volunteers, and ensure programs align with mission, transparency, and measurable impact for local businesses and residents.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership experience in nonprofit management, community development, or related fields.
• Event management, marketing, or public relations experience.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and public-speaking skills.
• Experience managing budgets, grants, and fundraising initiatives.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems creatively.

Responsibilities

• Recommend strategic priorities and implement the strategic plan with the Board.
• Apply the Main Street Approach across four areas: Economic Vitality, Design, Promotion, and Organization.
• Develop annual work plans, budgets, and performance measures with the Board.
• Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for MVDA.
• Build relationships with downtown businesses, civic partners, and regional organizations.
• Represent MVDA at community meetings and regional Main Street events.
• Lead fundraising efforts including sponsorships, grants, donor cultivation, and membership programs.
