Job summary

Saco Main Street is seeking an Executive Director to lead a nationally-accredited nonprofit focused on downtown revitalization and community engagement in Saco, Maine. The ED reports to the Board of Directors and oversees operations, fundraising, and programs, collaborating with volunteers, businesses, and municipal partners to advance SMS’s transformational strategies.

Qualifications

• Three+ years in nonprofit leadership or downtown revitalization
• Proven fundraising success (grants, sponsorships, donors)
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Experience with event planning and community engagement
• Familiarity with Main Street America principles preferred

Responsibilities

• Provides strategic leadership and day-to-day management of SMS.
• Collaborates with Board on governance, planning, and policy implementation.
• Maintains accreditation and compliance with required centers.
• Develops annual work plans, budgets, and priorities.
• Leads fundraising efforts, grants, sponsorships, and donor cultivation.
• Oversees events, placemaking, marketing, and community engagement.
• Recruits and mentors volunteers and committee members.
• Represents SMS to the community, businesses, and City of Saco.
