Job summary

Save Your Customers is seeking a Dispatcher / Logistics Coordinator in Salt Lake City to manage the end-to-end dispatch of trucks and railcars, plan routes, and communicate with drivers and customers. You’ll ensure on-time movements and maintain accurate records using TMS/WMS and GPS tools.

The role requires 2+ years in dispatch/logistics, strong multitasking, excellent communication, and familiarity with DOT/FMCSA regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree in logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred.
• Valid CDL or TWIC is a plus.
• Proficiency with dispatch and transportation management software (TMS, WMS, GPS tracking platforms).
• Strong understanding of trucking and railroad operations, including load planning and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize urgent issues, and maintain composure under pressure.
• Basic math and analytical skills for load calculations and performance reporting.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and coordinate daily movement of trucks and railcars, making real-time dispatch decisions.
• Plan optimal routes using routing software, considering load size, delivery windows, traffic, weather, and regulatory restrictions.
• Maintain constant communication with drivers, train crews, and customers to provide status updates and resolve issues promptly.
• Track shipments via GPS and TMS, updating system records and notifying stakeholders of any delays or exceptions.
• Generate and distribute daily manifests, bills of lading, and other required documentation.
• Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and railroad regulations, including hours-of-service (HOS) and safety standards.
• Collaborate with the warehouse team to schedule pickups and deliveries, optimizing load consolidation and dock usage.
• Respond to emergency situations, such as accidents or equipment failures, and coordinate appropriate response actions.
• Perform routine analysis of dispatch performance metrics and suggest process improvements.
• Assist with training new dispatch staff and drivers on procedures and technology platforms.
