Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health in Boston seeks a Director of Sponsored Programs Contracting to lead contracting strategy, oversee cross-functional teams, and ensure compliant negotiation of Subcontracts, Clinical Trial Agreements, Data Use Agreements, and related contracts.

Reporting to the Executive Director of SPA, the Director will manage a 6–8 person team, monitor workload and backlog, drive process improvements, and collaborate with Research Administration, General Counsel, and Clinical Trials

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 8–10 years related work experience in grants/contract review and management; 3–5 years supervisory/management experience.
• 10 years of related experience with supervisory role may substitute for degree.
• Strong knowledge of grants management, budget preparation and financial management principles.
• Detailed knowledge of laws and regulations governing research.
• Advanced skills with Microsoft applications and databases.

Responsibilities

• Leads development and implementation of contracting management strategy and annual work plan.
• Directs policy development for sponsored programs contracting management.
• Guides SPC team in managing incoming/outgoing non-industry subcontracts with regulatory focus.
• Monitors workload trends, reports progress, and revises strategies to improve efficiency.
• Directs daily activities of 6–8 staff to handle ~1300 annual actions.
• Ensures use of BIDMC contracts database (Huron) for contracts.
• Oversees backlog reviews and action plans to streamline processes.
• Manages department budget and SPC data in the database.
• Collaborates with Research Administration and other divisions.
