Job summary

UNC Asheville seeks a Director of Purchasing & Business Services to lead the university’s purchasing program, contract management, and related business services. The role directs procurement, accounts payable, and contract negotiations to ensure best value and compliant operations across UNC Asheville.

The position reports to the Budget & Finance Division and supports strategic objectives of diversity, inclusion and fiscal stewardship, with a hybrid work option and typical office hours.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree with at least four years’ experience in purchasing and/or contract administration.
• Ability to develop long-term goals and strategies for purchasing and contracting.
• Strong communication skills for managing site-visits, pre-bid conferences, and vendor communications.
• Ability to resolve customer service issues and foster internal/external relationships.

Responsibilities

• Oversee university purchasing program, directing procurement and accounts payable activities.
• Manage contract negotiations and contract administration for UNC Asheville.
• Lead and coordinate bid processes, ensuring timely, informed vendor responses.
• Direct business services including IT support, travel, and related administrative functions.
