Job summary

Barrington James Drug Discovery & Preclinical is seeking a senior leader to oversee its preclinical operations, including animal facilities and related research functions. You will drive strategic and operational performance to ensure high standards of welfare, compliance and scientific output.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and capacity, and work with senior stakeholders to grow the preclinical offering for clients in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading preclinical operations within CRO/pharma/biotech.
• Proven track record overseeing animal facilities and research functions.
• Experience in regulated environments with US requirements (USDA, AWA, AAALAC).

Responsibilities

• Oversee preclinical operations, including animal facilities and husbandry.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams across animal care, facility operations and research.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
• Drive operational efficiency, planning and budgeting for facilities and programmes.
• Manage facility capacity, staffing and procurement to support studies.
• Support delivery of high-quality preclinical studies for clients.
• Collaborate with scientific, veterinary, QA and commercial teams to maintain standards.
• Identify opportunities to expand capabilities and improve processes.
