Job summary

The Department of Social Services in New York City seeks an Executive Director of Conflict Resolution and Alternative Dispute Resolution to lead the agency's employee relations and wellness initiatives for about 12,000 staff.

This full-time role directs strategy, policy, and program assessment, supervises staff, and collaborates with OATH, OLR, and LRS to resolve complex workplace issues and promote fair, respectful workplaces.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and four years of progressively responsible experience in a large governmental agency or similar organization.
• Graduate education or a license may substitute for up to a maximum of three years of experience.
• A master’s degree may substitute for two years of experience at the rate described above.

Responsibilities

• Direct planning, implementation, oversight, and assessment of Conflict Resolution and Alternative Dispute Resolution across the agency.
• Develop and implement agency-wide initiatives addressing workplace conflict, employee relations, and wellness.
• Provide leadership for Employee Relations for a ~12,000-employee organization and coordinate with Labor Relations, EEO, Legal Affairs, and others.
• Serve as Internal Consultant to managers and HRBPs on complex employee relation matters and develop resolution strategies.
• Oversee intake and resolution of matters through multiple channels and determine intervention paths.
• Respond to workplace crises and develop protocols for future use.
• Supervise Conflict Resolution staff and DSS Wellness Coordinator; ensure quality, timely deliverables.
• Research and disseminate information on agency policies and employees’ work-life matters.
