Job summary

Williams College is seeking a Director of Project Management to lead planning, design, and construction for major campus capital projects. You will supervise a team of professionals, manage budgets, and coordinate with facilities operations to integrate new work into campus life.

The role requires LEED credentials or the ability to obtain them within 24 months, and extensive experience in higher education projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (engineering or architecture) or related to construction or project management.
• Ten years of direct experience in planning, design, and management of major capital construction projects, including LEED certified buildings.
• Familiarity with high performance building and landscape design, construction and standards.
• Knowledge of utility systems, current energy efficient building systems, and energy conservation best practices.
• Experience with developing long-range capital and renewal programs in higher education settings.
• Strong leadership and supervision skills with experience managing a team of project management professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight of the capital design and construction program, ensuring projects meet institutional needs and maintain schedules and budgets.
• Guide teams to deliver projects on time, on budget, and compliant with codes and regulations.
• Supervise and mentor project management staff and optimize performance across projects.
• Coordinate with AVP Campus Planning and Operations on strategic planning and logistics for capital projects.
• Foster strong relationships with design and construction partners to achieve project goals.
• Ensure turnover of completed projects to campus operations with minimal disruption.
