Job summary

Long Island Rail Road seeks an Executive Director of Special Projects to guide major capital programs, including Penn Station Access and Grand Central Madison. You will coordinate with MTA, Amtrak, FRA and FTA, directing staffing, procurement and training to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

You will lead a cross-agency team, manage complex negotiations and oversee contract documents, compliance and safety commitments across multiple departments and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Engineering, Planning, Construction, or related field of study is required.
• Minimum 14 years of experience in project management including senior level management in long-range/planning and large capital projects.
• Proven leadership, judgment, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee direction of all business activities related to PSA, GCM and other Capital Program projects.
• Coordinate with MTA Stakeholders and state/federal agencies for project delivery.
• Direct and lead a team managing scope, schedule and budget, monitor risks and resolve issues.
