Job summary

Baylor Health Care System Credit Union in Dallas, TX seeks a Director of Consumer Lending, Risk and Collections to lead the credit union's consumer lending portfolio, risk controls, and collections operations. The role drives growth, ensures policy compliance, and delivers timely reporting to executive leadership.

Qualifications

• Five to seven years of progressive experience in consumer lending, credit risk, lending operations, or collections.
• Strong knowledge of consumer lending regulations, fair lending, credit reporting, collections, bankruptcy, and repossession requirements.
• Experience managing consumer loan portfolios, credit risk, concentration limits, pricing strategies, and portfolio growth.
• Experience overseeing outsourced underwriting, mortgage lending, or other third-party financial services vendors.
• Knowledge of loan origination, title work, lien perfection, loan documentation, and quality control.
• Experience developing lending policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Ability to prepare and present lending and credit risk reports to executive leadership and a Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

• Lending Strategy & Growth: Manage the consumer loan portfolio, develop growth strategies, monitor production, and partner with marketing on lending campaigns, product development, and member relationship discounts.
• Credit Risk Management: Monitor portfolio quality, delinquencies, charge-offs, loan concentrations, underwriting performance, and emerging credit risks.
• Executive & Board Reporting: Prepare monthly lending and credit risk reports for the CEO and Board of Directors, covering loan growth, portfolio performance, yield, delinquency, losses, concentrations, vendor performance, and recommended actions.
• Vendor Management: Oversee outsourced consumer loan underwriting and mortgage vendors, including performance, service levels, quality control, compliance, and contract management.
• Lending Operations: Supervise loan origination and loan support functions, including loan documentation, title work, lien perfection, post-closing follow-up, and loan audits.
• Collections & Loss Mitigation: Oversee collections activities, delinquency management, bankruptcy accounts, repossessions, recoveries, and charge-off recommendations.
• Compliance & Policy Development: Develop and maintain lending and collections policies, procedures, and internal controls. Ensure compliance with applicable federal and Texas lending, credit reporting, fair lending, and collections requirements.
• Loan Pricing & Products: Manage loan pricing and rate strategies, evaluate product profitability, and recommend pricing adjustments that balance competitiveness, growth, risk, and returns.
• Credit Bureau Management: Manage credit bureau relationships and contracts, oversee credit reporting disputes, and resolve paid-ahead reporting issues and other reporting discrepancies.
• Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and develop lending and collections staff while collaborating with executive management, finance, compliance, operations, and marketing.
