Job summary

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art seeks a Senior Director of Collections and Exhibitions to join its senior administration team in Los Angeles. This role oversees the museum’s collections program—covering preservation, storage, and documentation—and leads the Exhibitions and Planning department, including budgeting, scheduling, and touring shows.

Qualifications

• Ten years of progressively responsible experience in art museum registration, collections management, exhibitions management, exhibition design, or arts management.
• Five years managing teams, required.
• Experience managing complex projects and budgets, required.
• Experience in a start-up or entrepreneurial environment in a supervisory role, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the Registration, Collections Management, and Art Prep & Install teams, and the museum’s collections and institutional projects in Los Angeles and Northern California.
• Leads Exhibitions and Planning: multi-year schedule, budgets, and on-site/touring exhibitions coordination.
• Builds budgeting processes for exhibition planning; manages vendor relationships and cost-benefit analyses.
• Collaborates with Curatorial to develop traveling exhibitions and coordinates installations with internal and external parties.
• Recruits, mentors, and develops a diverse, high-performing team and manages cross-team collaboration.

Education

Master’s degree in art/art history, museum studies, or a related field
