Job summary

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles is seeking a Director of Special Events to lead the Events and Special Programs strategy, manage complex bookings, and coordinate venue operations.

You will partner with Revenue and Engagement to plan and execute development and fundraising events, oversee vendor contracts, budgets, and client relationships, and mentor a growing events team. This role emphasizes equity, inclusivity, and excellence across spaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in hospitality, business, or related field.
• Eight or more years of event management experience.
• Experience building, mentoring, and coaching a team of event staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead vetting and processing potential event clients from inquiry to contract.
• Become an expert for the museum’s event space and capabilities.
• Manage events database, calendar, client, and vendor records.
• Contract with clients and manage event reservation agreements.
• Plan and execute all event logistics for development and fundraising events.
• Collaborate with restaurant and catering teams to design event menus.
