Job summary

Inova Health System in Northern Virginia seeks a Senior Director of Laboratory Services to direct the Central Lab operations, including on-site and satellite facilities, and to lead strategic development of services in support of department objectives and organizational goals.

You will manage finances, staffing, and quality assurance, ensuring compliance with CAP and other standards, while building strong relationships with patients, clinicians, and departments.

Qualifications

• 7 years of experience in lab management
• 10 years related experience
• ASCP certification required
• Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Oversees assigned department to ensure effective performance and collaborative stakeholder engagement.
• Manages quality assurance/improvement activities including audits and accreditation compliance (CAP).
• Maintains service excellence and outstanding customer service to internal and external customers.
• Develops long-range plans and annual budgets; monitors financial performance against budget.
• Recruits, hires and trains staff; plans staffing and provides staff development and discipline when needed.
• Sets performance expectations, provides feedback, and conducts evaluations; aligns staff with goals and standards.
• Determines staff education/training needs and follows up with plan to meet them.
• Monitors marketplace opportunities and drives continuous improvement
