Job summary

HealthPartners seeks a Director of Actuary - Valuation and Reporting to lead valuation, financial reporting, reserve analysis, and regulatory support for health plan products. You will design and govern models, communicate results to senior leadership, and mentor a skilled actuarial team to ensure compliant and impactful decision support.

The role requires leadership across complex processes, strong governance, and collaboration with Finance, Compliance, and Product teams.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading complex actuarial valuation, reporting, reserve development, trend, pricing, forecasting, or regulatory filings.
• Translate actuarial results into actionable financial insights for senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
• Experience managing or directing actuarial analysts or cross-functional teams.
• Advanced actuarial judgment and applying Actuarial Standards of Practice to model governance and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead actuarial valuation and reporting processes, including reserve development and regulatory support.
• Design, enhance, and govern models, assumptions, controls, documentation, and review processes.
• Lead and develop actuarial staff, set priorities, coach judgment, and build a high-performing team culture.
• Provide actuarial certification and subject-matter expertise for regulatory filings and governance.
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, Underwriting, Government Programs, Compliance, Legal, and Data teams to explain results and identify risks.
• Perform other duties as assigned to advance department and organizational goals.
