Job summary

The Chicago Academy for the Arts in Chicago, IL, seeks an experienced Director of Development to lead and expand its philanthropic programs. Reporting to the Head of School and a core member of the SLT, the director will shape strategy for annual giving, major gifts, foundation and corporate support, and signature fundraising events.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of progressive development experience.
• Proven track record in securing five- and six-figure gifts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to write compelling proposals.
• Strong organizational, managerial, and data skills.
• Bachelor’s degree required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan to grow revenue.
• Lead major gifts program and donor relations across portfolios.
• Oversee annual fund, grants, foundation and corporate support.
• Partner with Head of School and Board on capital campaigns and long-term strategy.
• Build and manage development team and systems (e.g., Salesforce).
