Job summary

The City of Eugene is seeking a Deputy Finance Director to guide financial operations and provide strategic leadership to the Finance Division. This role partners with the CFO to advance long-range financial planning, manages debt, and drives cross-departmental collaboration on financial strategy and ERP systems.

Qualified candidates will have extensive public finance experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead a diverse team in a dynamic municipal environment.

Qualifications

• Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in finance administration and management.
• Experience working for a government agency is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Public Administration, or a closely related field.
• Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Public Administration is preferred.
• Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations for the Finance Division and supervise staff.
• Partner with the CFO on the Long-Range Financial Plan and policy development.
• Serve as Debt Manager and oversee debt issuance and management of existing obligations.
• Collaborate with City leadership across departments to guide financial strategy and ERP needs (PeopleSoft).
• Translate complex financial topics for diverse stakeholders and ensure operational readiness.
