Job summary

Egen is seeking a senior data platform architect to lead end-to-end Data Lakehouse initiatives on Google Cloud Platform. You will work directly with customers to understand goals, translate requirements into architectural blueprints, and guide delivery teams through design and implementation.

The role requires deep expertise in GCP, Databricks, and data governance, with hands-on involvement in building scalable pipelines and ensuring data quality.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of progressive software engineering and data platform development experience.
• 5+ years architecting data platforms on GCP and/or Databricks.
• Hands-on experience designing and deploying Data Lakehouse platforms with data products and medallion architectures.
• Strong understanding of real-time and batch data ingestion patterns and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with data governance, security, and cataloging solutions (Dataplex, Data Catalog, IAM).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement; able to guide clients through decisions.
• Experience leading mixed teams of engineers, analysts, and architects.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end architecture, design, and implementation of scalable Data Lakehouse solutions on GCP (BigQuery, GCS, BigLake, Dataplex).
• Collaborate with customers to understand business goals, data challenges, and translate into architectural blueprints.
• Design and implement data pipelines for real-time and batch ingestion; use modern orchestration and streaming frameworks.
• Establish and enforce best practices for data cataloging, metadata management, lineage, and data quality.
• Define and implement data security, access control, and governance models compliant with standards.
• Serve as technical lead; mentor engineers, review solutions, ensure architectural consistency.
• Balance architecture discussions with hands-on delivery, POCs, and deep-dive optimizations.
• Partner with stakeholders and delivery leads to drive adoption, scalability, maintainability.
• Represent the company as trusted advisor, articulating trade-offs and best practices.
