Job summary

Cigna Health and Life Insurance Company seeks an experienced data governance professional to lead enterprise governance initiatives and partner with business and tech teams in Connecticut. Qualifications

• 5+ years in data governance, data management, data quality, or related discipline.
• 3+ years with large-scale healthcare data such as claims or clinical data.
• Advanced SQL skills for data analysis and automated validation.
• Experience with Python for data analysis and governance workflows.
• Experience with Databricks or comparable cloud analytics platform.
• Experience administering data governance platforms (Collibra/Alation/Informatica).
• Knowledge of data stewardship, metadata management, glossaries, lineage, and policy governance.
• Ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Advance enterprise data governance initiatives to improve trust, transparency, ownership, and accountability.
• Partner with stakeholders to define and govern business terms, metadata, data lineage, and ownership.
• Administer and enhance governance platforms to strengthen cataloging, stewardship workflows, and policy management.
• Operationalize governance processes for data stewardship, issue management, and data quality controls.
• Build data quality monitoring and automated validation solutions using SQL, Python, and cloud platforms.
• Identify root causes of quality issues and implement sustainable fixes with cross-functional teams.
• Develop governance standards, policies, and practical guidance for consistent use.
• Create governance metrics and dashboards to communicate data quality health and risks.
• Evaluate emerging capabilities including agentic/generative AI to scale governance responsibly.
• Lead governance sessions and maintain documentation on definitions, standards, and operating models.
