Job summary

Utah Transit Authority (UTA) is seeking a Chief Technology Officer to lead the agency’s enterprise technology vision, architecture, operations, and modernization roadmap. The CTO will partner with the Executive Team to align technology with safety, reliability, and customer experience.

This role requires a deep background in enterprise IT strategy, cybersecurity, data platforms, and large-scale transformation, plus the ability to translate business goals into actionable technology plans and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
• Ten years of technology leadership experience, including five years in senior-level management. Public sector/transportation experience preferred.
• Expert knowledge of enterprise technology strategy, governance, cybersecurity, data platforms, cloud and IT operations.

Responsibilities

• Sets and communicates UTA's technology vision, roadmap, and digital strategy aligned with mission and customer outcomes.
• Oversees technology operations including infrastructure, networks, applications, and cloud platforms.
• Leads digital modernization initiatives to improve customer experience, safety, and operational performance.
• Develops business cases, cost/benefit analyses, and risk assessments for major technology investments.
