Job summary

The City of Gainesville is seeking a crime analyst to join the Police Department's District 2. This role involves advanced professional, analytical work to gather, research, analyze, and organize confidential investigative information related to criminal violations.

You will perform data-driven analysis, produce reports, and support staffing decisions and tactical deployments. Proficiency with GIS and various databases is required, with strong independent judgment.

Qualifications

• This is responsible, advanced professional, analytical and technical work of significant complexity that requires gathering, researching, analyzing, and organizing confidential investigative information related to criminal violations.
• Work requires independent judgment, critical thinking and solution analysis abilities.
• Performance of lower level duties may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily focused studies of crime and disorder problems to assist internal staff and external agencies in criminal apprehension, crime and disorder reduction, crime prevention, and evaluation.
• Performs daily evaluation and analysis of criminal intelligence information to predict capabilities, intentions, and vulnerabilities of criminal groups and recommends investigative strategies.
• Monitors the levels and patterns of criminal incidents and performs periodic tabulations by area, day of week, time of day, and offense characteristics.
• Develops forecasts or predictive analysis on crime trends and patterns.
• Prepares reports including area analysis, incident summarizations, comprehensive suspect work-ups and crime patterns and forecasts.
