Job summary

Corebridge Financial is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to provide legal support for CRBG Retirement Services, focusing on retirement plans, recordkeeping, and product offerings—not-for-profit and retail markets. Expect collaboration with senior risk and compliance teams to address day-to-day issues.

The role requires JD and bar admission, with substantial in-house finance experience. The position is hybrid and based in one of several U.S. locations, including Houston, with travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• In-house experience within the financial services and/or retirement plans industry.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide creative solutions on complex matters.
• Able to partner with peers, leaders, and business partners as a trusted advisor.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to provide clear legal guidance to diverse audiences.
• Experience with ERISA, IRS, DOL regulatory frameworks as they apply to retirement products.

Responsibilities

• Provide support on legal and regulatory issues for CRBG Retirement Services’ retirement products.
• Support plan acquisition, recordkeeping, product development, and compliance operations.
• Advise on non-qualified deferred compensation plans and 409A compliance.
• Collaborate across Legal, Risk and Compliance to ensure consistency.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including Plan Sponsor Service Provider Agreements.
• Lead responses to RFPs and related acquisition opportunities.
• Monitor regulatory developments and provide practical guidance for compliance.
